Operator Training and Competency Project

Operator Training and Competency Project

Project Purpose

The Ngurrara Training and Competency project was an initiative to upskill our crew, to build upon the cohesion amongst our crew and to validate our brand as a growth orientated business with competent, skilled, and supported operators, who are confident in operating various plant and equipment.

This initiative stemmed from an internal audit and training needs analysis of crew competencies as both are important controls to ensure our commitment to our people and to further underpin our safe working commitments.

The project was also aligned with our genuine desire to train indigenous people and reinvest back into the community and our Ngurrara values:

  • Safety First
  • Respect for our people
  • Work and culture
  • Highest quality service delivery

Project Outcome

The project began on 20th October 2023, and concluded on 6th November 2023, and over the course of these 2 weeks, 12 of our crew, as a team, completed 159 combined units of competencies, earning tickets and RTO certification in the following Civil and Mining Operator fields:

  • 4WD Operation
  • Articulated Haul Truck
  • Dozer Operation
  • Excavator Operation
  • Forklift Operation
  • Grader Operation
  • Tool Carrier
  • Roller Operations
  • Skid Steer Operation
  • Water Cart Operation
  • Front End Loader Operation

Crew Evaluation

A post-training survey that was sent to our crew returned a highly positive evaluation of the training and competency project from our crew.

This was a great result for the Executive Team and Board, as the best feedback for an employer to measure how they are operating as a business, is to hear from their employees.

We extend our appreciation to RMS Training and Recruitment, for supporting us to deliver a tailored training schedule, in an intensive yet supportive and achievable approach.

It was through the collaboration with RMS Training and Recruitment that we were able to achieve this outcome.

Our crew can now continue their learning journey by operating equipment and building their experience.
