Phil Dhu is a Shareholder and Chairperson/Managing Director of Ngurrara Pty Ltd. He is also the Managing Director/Business Owner of Total Development Australia Pty Ltd.

Phil was born and raised in Marble Bar and is a traditional owner claimant and Banjyma member with connection to the Karriyara, Yindjibarndi and Nyiyaparli language groups of the Pilbara region.

With more than 45 years in the mining and civil construction industry, Phil’s experiences range from operating mobile equipment to training, assessing, and mentoring to senior leadership in supervisory and superintendent capacities. Phil has worked at both Rio Tinto and BHP in the mining and resources sector, for Main Roads and the Public Works Department in government, as well as contracting companies such as Bell Bros and Boral. Phil was instrumental in the start-up and establishment of Indigenous Mining Services in 2004, which is now the Indigenous Mining and Marine Services or IMMS.

Phil’s wealth of experience, coupled with his aspiration for community engagement and development sees him giving back through his lived learnings to assist younger generations and enhance their knowledge.

Phil brings his knowledge and in-depth understanding of local, cultural; community and client needs to the Ngurrara family and provides professional services as an industry liaison consultant.

Phil is an experienced company director who has held positions since 2011 in the Banjyma community on boards, decision making committees and Elders and advisory councils. Phil’s vision for Ngurrara is to collaborate, engage and form partnerships to deliver solutions and successful outcomes.
