Executive Profile - General Manager

Tracey Dhu, our General Manager for Ngurrara, is a proud Bunjima woman from the Pilbara region, with over 20 years of experience in working with Aboriginal organisations. Her experience in the mining and resources industry, her practical experience of systems and processes, and her experience from working from the ground up, has given her a holistic exposure to leadership and managing staff.

Phil Dhu

Chairperson, Managing Director and Shareholder

Phillip Dhu (Phil) leads Ngurrara Pty Ltd, both operationally and strategically.

Phil, a proud Banjima Traditional Owner, has over 40 years of hands-on work experience that is complemented by several tertiary and Diploma level qualifications across a broad set of operational and technical functions including Leadership and Business, Civil Construction (Plant Operations), Metalliferous Mining Operations (Open Cut), Surface Extraction Operations, Front Line Management, Training and Assessment Systems, Assessment and Workplace Training, Business Administration, and Work Health and Safety.

Phil also holds several strategy and governance achievements with the AICD and other reputable institutes, including being a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2010, and staying up to date with industry and trends, having undertaken regular training beginning from 2010 through to present day, including undertaking Indigenous focussed governance training, and the AICD Foundations of Directorship (Governance for Directors, Finance for Directors, Strategy and Risk for Directors) and the AICD Company Directors Course (Governance and the Practice of Directorship, The Legal Environment, Risk and Strategy, Financial Literacy and Performance, Achieving Board Effectiveness).

Phil’s business, Total Development (Aust), is an established industry liaison consultancy that specialises in providing professional services for business growth in the mining and civil construction industry.

Peter Todd

Director, Shareholder and Business Development Executive

Peter Todd is a proud Banjima and Kariyarra Traditional owner and an operational and strategic leader. As Business Development Executive, Peter has a key role that requires strong communication and networking skills and has a professional level of engagement to sell off Ngurrara’s model of operational activities with the ability to influence, engage and negotiate commercial awareness. Peter’s business, Koodaideri Contracting Services,
provides dry and wet hire of plant and equipment to the industry.

Tracey Dhu

Tracey is proud Banjima woman from the WA Pilbara region, with a passion for Indigenous empowerment, advancement, and autonomy. Tracey has been dedicated and driven to making a difference for Indigenous people to thrive through advocacy, representation, and in elevating Indigenous voices.

Tracey’s professional journey over the last 18 years has been in the mining and resources industry in a diverse range of operational and strategic roles, all of which have required effective communication and influencing abilities to build and manage collaborative relationships across all levels of business to deliver sustainable outcomes and results.

A strategic thinker that applies technical capabilities and a holistic view to problem solving, utilising effective communication, and influencing skills to build and manage collaborative relationships across all levels of business to deliver sustainable outcomes and results.

In her various roles as a chairperson and director on boards and committees, Tracey also has demonstrated strategic leadership skills and experience to deliver strategic plans and outcomes.

Tracey has an extensive experience and background in developing, implementing, and managing strategies to meet business needs and regulatory requirements, and is a safety minded individual, with demonstrated experience in applying safe systems of work, through involvement in incident investigations, risk assessments and field leadership activities.
Complimenting her impressive work experience, Tracey also possesses formal tertiary qualifications in several management fields including Human Resources Management, Leadership and Management, Business Administration, and Training and Assessment.

Tracey is a purpose driven, inclusive and experienced frontline manager, with an extensive background in people management, project management, risk and change management, stakeholder engagement, compliance and logistics, training and development and continuous improvement.

David Dhu

Corporate Services Manager

David is a proud Banjima man, from the WA Pilbara region, bringing knowledge and understanding of local, cultural, community and client needs to businesses.

Possessing a genuine passion for Aboriginal advocacy and advancement, and strongly guided by respect for heritage, tradition, and Elders, and is driven and guided by governance and process.

David has provided a range of innovative and sustainable corporate services works for over 15 years to a wide range of businesses and industry.

A member of several reputable institutes, and possessing in-depth work and project experience, complemented by tertiary qualifications achieved in corporate services fields such as Leadership and Management, Human Resources Management, Project Management, Work Health and Safety, Business Administration, Event Management, Records Management, Quality Auditing, Marketing and Communications, Training and Assessment, and Governance and Compliance.

David is a licenced employment agent, authorised by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety to provide a range of end-to-end Human Resources services.

Possessing a unique set of strengths and competencies and a client services, team focused and proactive individual that combines effective communication and strategic thinking abilities to adapt, engage, lead change, and enable teams and peers to strive for continuous improvement to deliver on strategic and operational objectives.

Steven Ong

Company Secretary

Steven Ong is an operational leader. Steven’s background is in Accounting and Finance, and he is an established and operation focused Commercial Manager and Financial Controller with more than 20 years of corporate and operational finance/accounting/commercial experience in large and SME companies.

Steven is a CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) with a broad range of capabilities including:

  • Commercial, Contracts, Tenders, IT, Financial and Risk Management
  • Project Management and Project performance (including start-up companies)

Steven coordinates the governance of the Ngurrara Board and oversees the finances of Ngurrara.
